Rep. Lightner invites local pastor to give invocation at state Capitol
RELEASE|June 11, 2026

State Rep. Sarah Lightner on Thursday welcomed her pastor, Matt Rohde of the Springport Bible Church, to the state Capitol, where he gave the invocation for the Michigan House of Representatives.

The invocation duties rotate between legislators, and they have the option of offering a prayer themselves or inviting a guest to deliver it.

In his invocation, Pastor Rohde prayed to grant state leaders “wisdom that is greater than human understanding, courage that rises above political pressure and integrity that remains firm when compromise would be easier.”
