Rep. Hornberger celebrates House passage of her effort to fund Macomb water infrastructure improvements
RELEASE|March 24, 2022

State Rep. Pamela Hornberger (R-Chesterfield Township) issued the following statement after the House approved a supplemental budget plan that dedicates federal stimulus dollars to local infrastructure projects. Hornberger worked closely with Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller to ensure proper funding for much-needed Macomb-area water infrastructure improvements were included in the plan:

“This $72 million in funding will allow vital steps to be taken to prevent imminent sewer disasters and sinkhole collapses like the one that occurred in Macomb County in December 2016. It will go even further by reducing combined sewer overflows into our beautiful Lake St. Clair and sewage backup into basements.

“I would like to thank Candice Miller for her invaluable support and hard work to determine the most crucial and efficient ways to significantly improve water infrastructure in our area.”

“Dedicating federal stimulus dollars to these projects is a proactive and responsible choice that will save rate-payers from paying increased sewer rates. I am hopeful the governor will acknowledge the importance of this project when it comes time for her to sign this plan into law.”

More details about the plan can be found here.
